Hi! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted to the blog. I feel like so much has happened in the last couple of weeks and I have so much I want to share! I have several fun posts I plan to have up soon covering everything from my baby shower to new outfits to some (hopefully) very helpful maternity posts.
It’s crazy to think that this time last year I was running around like crazy in New York during Fashion Week. Boy how things can change in a year, right? If I wasn’t in my third trimester I probably would have flown to New York for this season’s Fashion Week going on right now. Since I’m 35 weeks pregnant today that clearly didn’t happen. I am barely making it taking Leo for a walk around the block! I had such a blast last year though so who knows, maybe next year we’ll make it a family trip (maybe…)!
It’s been almost 2 months since I provided a little “bumpdate” so I thought I would catch you up on what’s been going on! Scroll down for a few updates and a look at this adorable “babe” t-shirt dress.
How far along? Today I am officially 35 weeks pregnant. 35! It’s just crazy to think how fast this pregnancy has flown by. I honestly feel like being pregnant has just become part of who I am. It’s like I’ve been trying to operate like usual the last few months and now all of a sudden I am becoming more aware that I can’t just keep trucking along like nothing’s happening. Technically the baby could come at any time (CRA-ZY) but we’re hoping she stays in there at least a few more weeks. My due date is October 16th!
How big is baby? We have an ultrasound on Friday so I will have a better idea of details after that appointment but according to The Bump app, baby is roughly 18 inches and about 5 pounds (about as big as a pineapple!).
How I’m Feeling: I had still been feeling pretty good but this last week or so things have started to slow down. Or at least feel like they need to slow down… moving around isn’t as easy and if I try to do things too quickly it can be a little painful. I started feeling a little swollen and puffy in my face which kind of sucks so if you have any tips let me know!
I’ve started feeling a lot more tired too. It may have to do with the fact that I haven’t been sleeping much at night. I’ll be exhausted and fall asleep but then wake up multiple times in the night then struggle to fall back asleep. I toss and turn quite a bit but sometimes I just feel like I might be hurting the baby at certain points when I sleep on my side. I think this causes me to toss and turn even more. My brain also thinks it’s convenient to start running through all of the things I need to do or work on when I wake up at 3am which definitely doesn’t help the whole falling back asleep part. I know this is the part where you say, “this is God’s way of preparing you for sleepless nights with the baby”… call me crazy but it would be nice to get as much sleep as possible before then but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen!
Cravings? Not really! My watermelon obsession has started to slow down and this last week I’ve really been into grilled cheeses. Bread and cheese definitely seem to be the most appealing things to eat lately (super healthy I know). I was eating a lot of salads with fresh lime or lemon juice but realized the acidity was causing me to become really nauseous so I had to cut that out. I have my fair share of sweet treats but I haven’t been going crazy over anything.
Exercising? Barely… which isn’t good. I usually get in a decent amount of walking and stuck with the elliptical for a while. The last few weeks it felt like doing the elliptical was too much so I would only do it for ten minutes. I took Leo for a long walk yesterday and felt fine during the walk but almost like I overdid it once I got home. I still try to incorporate little exercises like squats and lunges but it’s very sporadic and I never let myself get out of breath. My goal is to stay active until I go into labor but I am definitely going to listen to my body and not overdo it.
Any aches or pains? A few. I still have that same back pain in the center of my back that’s pretty constant. I thought I would go to the chiropractor but feel like since I’ve made it 35 weeks without going that I would just power through. When we were in San Antonio for my birthday I got a prenatal massage which was so relaxing but unfortunately didn’t relieve the pain. My shooting pains down my legs went away for a bit (I think it was because I cut back on exercise) but I still get them every now and then. I’ve been getting headaches and my face has been feeling really puffy. I drink water all the time but it never seems to be enough.
Have any of you ever experienced swollen shins or shin pain? I went to a Fleet Foxes concert a few weeks ago with Ita and my brother (I powered through almost the entire thing) and I thought my shins were going to snap from standing. I could barely walk back to the car and when I propped my legs up my shins were super swollen (not my feet or ankles, just shins). Just pressing the gas pedal to drive felt like it could cause me shin to snap. SO WEIRD. It’s safe to say that was my last concert this pregnancy. 🙂
New discovery: I realized this past weekend that my bump is now big and sturdy enough to act as a table. I learned this while eating a grilled cheese on the couch. I have to say it is pretty awesome to be able to comfortably rest a plate on your stomach and eat while you watch TV ?
Kicking? Yes! More like moving and stretching around. It is crazy how sometimes my stomach literally jumps and gets really tight in certain areas. It’s like an arm or leg is pushing out. KIND OF CREEPY, I KNOW BUT IT’S PRETTY COOL.
Did you finally register? YES! Hallelujah. We registered at Buy Buy Baby and I will be telling you all about it in an upcoming blog post.
Is the nursery put together? Umm, not quite. Ita put together the crib and the glider but other than that it’s still just white walls. The wallpaper I ordered is supposed to finally come in next week and we’ll be installing blinds this weekend. I also have a dresser hopefully arriving this weekend. I am really hopeful we’ll have it all *somewhat* together in the next 2 weeks!
Did you buy more clothes for her? Yes… only a few though. Honestly going through her little clothes I’m realizing I really don’t have much when it comes to newborn clothing (like maybe 5 onesies…). All of my family assumes I’m crazy with a million clothes for her and keeps telling me not to buy anything but I can’t help but think, “is she not going to be pooping and puking all over everything?”. What is a normal amount of clothing options for a baby?? Seriously, moms out there please let me know! I definitely don’t want to overdue it but also don’t want to have to mess with laundry all the time! On another note, I got tons of cute stuff at my shower and will be sharing details from that in an upcoming post!
Ok is there anything I missed? Let me know if you have any specific bumpdate questions! As for my outfit I couldn’t help but grab this “Babe” t-shirt dress by Wildfox. It just seemed appropriate. ? I paired it with an old pair of over-the-knee boots and a black cardigan for an easy transition look into fall. Get the outfit details below and be sure to leave me a comment if you have any questions! In case you missed my last bumpdate, you can read my Second Trimester Recap here!
