The work week has just begun but of course I am already ready for happy hour… big shocker there, I know. Lucky for me (and you if you live in Dallas), the Foundation Room located inside the House of Blues is now open to the public and offers an incredible happy hour menu!
I had the opportunity to check out the newly renovated and previously private Dallas hotspot with my husband a few weeks ago and we were both incredibly impressed. When you arrive at the Foundation Room you take the elevator up a few floors and when the doors open you feel like you have been transported to another world! The dim lighting and Far Eastern influenced decor creates a moody ambiance perfect for enjoying a few cocktails (or partying all night long). I can see it having more of a Vegas club feel later at night (without the astronomical drink prices) but what I really fell in love with was their new patio. The outside takes on a completely different vibe with Moroccan style decor full of vibrant colors. I love the laid back furniture and tossed pillows everywhere creating a casual atmosphere that makes you want to kick back and stay for a while (and we totally did).
Now about that happy hour menu. It offers six different food options, draft and craft beer, and my personal favorite, shareable cocktails. You can choose from the “Gran Old Fashioned”, “The Room Mai Tai”, or the “More Karma Margarita” (peach syrup and fresh pomegranate seeds definitely kick this margarita up a notch!) and get a large pitcher that serves roughly 5 people for $40. A few of the specialty cocktails I tried were the Cucumber Chill (incredibly refreshing and light), The Hot Daughter (surprisingly smooth serrano pepper balanced with basil, definitely try it if you like a little heat!), and the Night Cap (uh-maze-ing. Smooth bulleit rye with fresh rosemary and grapefruit bitters).
All happy hour food items are only $8 including the smoked pork nachos, jerked chicken lollipops & tostones, mini philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken street tacos, crispy cauliflower tempura (I think I’ve actually had dreams about this one), and the flatbread of the day. A couple other delicious menu items that aren’t on the happy hour menu that we tried were the Japanese Yellow Tail Tartare Bruschetta and the Korean Fried Chicken and Bao Buns (both delicious). By the way, you can feel good about everything you order because the House of Blues donates $1.00 from the sale of these menu items to the House of Blues Music Forward Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting music education and creating opportunities for youth through music. Pretty cool if you ask me!
I would definitely add the Foundation Room to your list for happy hour and take a look at the House of Blues calendar for any shows coming up that you may want to check out! There is a secret passageway to the House of Blues from the Foundation Room meaning NO standing in line to get into your concert. You and your date or group of friends can grab drinks and something to eat then be escorted in to the show! Talk about a perfect date night…
The Foundation Room Happy Hour is Wednesday-Saturday from 5:00-7:00
Let me know if you make it out to visit the Foundation Room! I know you’ll enjoy it!
