Knotted

Maxi dresses are a constant summer staple in women’s wardrobes year after year. The cuts and styles may vary but I bet most of you have at least one maxi dress in your closet right now. They are just so easy to throw on and head out the door and yet still feel put together. I have to admit I am quite the sucker for a good maxi dress (remember this one? or this one? and this one…). I have more than a couple (okay, like nine) hanging in my closet and I am proud to say I get good wear out of all of them (old and new)! When I found this white and blue tie dyed BB Dakota maxi at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago, I knew it would become part of my regular summer maxi dress rotation. The dress is a little long so instead of having it altered, I gathered the extra material at the bottom and tied it in a knot. Not only is this a great way to prevent from tripping all over yourself, it adds a styled aspect to your look. I always love how sometimes “problem solving” your outfits can turn into something that adds character to them. This dress is also a little low-cut so when I recently attended a brunch with a group of fellow bloggers at Bazille inside Nordstrom Northpark, I decided to layer my favorite white blouse over it to make it a bit more conservative. I have put this sleeveless top over multiple maxi dresses this summer and you guessed it, tied it in a knot. Layering a top over a maxi dress or adding interesting details like a knot are great ways to create new outfits and help you get more out of your wardrobe!
