Tis the season for margaritas and tacos! Who am I kidding, it’s always the season for margaritas and tacos in Texas so today I am sharing Mi Dia From Scratch’s delicious happy hour!
I’ve been eating at Mi Dia from Scratch for a few years now but my most recent trip was to their Plano location where I got to try several cocktails and dishes on the menu. Let me start by saying that they have one of the most incredible tequila bars I have ever seen. It is shelves on shelves on shelves of tequila that towers to the ceiling of the restaurant. They even have tequila on tap, offer an incredible selection of tequilas for a tasting flight ranging from $9-$14 and have 26 margaritas to choose from on their menu! If you are a tequila lover, this is a must-visit spot.
We tried a handful of drinks but my favorites by far were the Riviera Maya and the Horchata Martini. The Riviera Maya is made with their own strawberry infused Dulce Vida Blanco (delicious on its own, too!), St-Germain, Cointreau, lemon juice and agave nectar. Literally one of the most delicious tequila cocktails I’ve ever had. I could see myself having quite a few of those on the beach actually in the Riviera Maya…
My other favorite: the Horchata Martini. I love Horchata and this combination of RumChata, Kahlua, Absolut Vanilla, Riazul Anejo, egg white, cajeta and nutmeg was divine! It’s more of a dessert martini but I highly recommend trying it if you are a fan of Horchata.
As for the food we had the Quesadillas de Huitlacoche which was not only packed with flavor but beautifully presented with the blue corn quesadillas folded and stacked on top of each other and covered with sour cream and New Mexico red and green chile sauces. The sauteed Mexican truffle mixed with queso asadero and roasted veggies makes this vegetarian appetizer option a must for all. Our other dish was one of my favorites, the Sopes de Carnitas. They are round corn masa boats topped with oaxacan black beans, roasted pork carnitas, queso fresco, pickled onions and roasted tomatillo salsa. Ita doesn’t eat pork so we subbed the carnitas for the duck carnitas which was also delicious. I’ve had several other menu items and you really can’t go wrong! Here is a breakdown of what’s offered during happy hour:
Mia Dia Happy Hour
Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm

$5 Mi Dia Rita Rocks or Mi Dia Frozen Over (House Margaritas)

Just a heads up the Margarita of the Month for December is the “Mistletoe”. It is made of Clase Azul Plata Tequila, fresh lemon juice & strawberry infused agave and garnished with a powdered sugar rosemary sprig and frozen cranberries! It doesn’t get more festive than that and don’t worry, it is not a requirement to kiss anyone when ordered. 🙂
I hope you check out Mi Dia from Scratch! You will not regret it once you try their made from scratch cocktails and food. Their bartenders know what they’re doing and are incredibly helpful in making sure you get a drink and meal that you love!
