Packing for a Summer Getaway with Sears Style

This post is sponsored by Sears. All opinions are my own.

It is finally beginning to feel like summer here in Dallas and I could not be happier about it. When summer arrives, the weekend getaways and beach vacations always follow. Which means it’s time to start packing! Whether I am going on my annual trip to Israel with my husband or taking a spontaneous road trip to Austin, I always try to have a method to my madness when it comes to packing my bags. While looking cute is clearly a high priority on vacation, there are a few other important factors to keep in mind.

dallas-style-blogger-the-fashion-hour-8911 dallas-style-blogger-the-fashion-hour-8953When getting my wardrobe ready for a summer getaway, I focus on three things: Does this piece travel well? Is it comfortable? And is it easy to style?

Does this piece travel well? The last thing you want to worry about when you finally get to your vacation destination is ironing, steaming, or making a run to the local dry cleaners. I am all about checking out spots where the locals hang but the dry cleaners should not be one of them. The Metaphor Strapless Maxi Dress from Sears I am wearing in today’s post is a perfect example of a piece that travels well. The stretchy knit material of the dress is unlikely to wrinkle and you can easily fold and roll up the dress to fit in the pocket of your carry on or throw in your beach bag.

I know that pleather pencil skirt you just bought looks great on you but it may not be ideal for a trip to the beach. Plan on hiking or doing any sort of exploring on your trip? You may not want to wear skinny jeans and heels. Comfort is key when traveling because nothing ruins your day faster than blisters on your feet and feeling like your clothes are sticking to you. Maxi dresses like the one I am wearing are ideal whether you are walking around town or enjoying a romantic dinner on the beach. The stretch fabric has a layer of lining and a built-in shelf bra that adds an extra dose of comfort to the dress. The elastic band at the top and ruching on either side makes the dress feel secure so you do not have to worry about fidgeting with it while you are out and about. And how cute are these Metaphor espadrille wedges? You’ll be happy to know they are 50% off and extremely comfortable, too!

I always pack pieces I can style multiple ways. Not only to save room in your suitcase, but depending on your destination and what your plans are, it is always good to have options. Taking a basic staple like this black maxi dress allows you the ability to style it countless ways. Simply add a piece of statement jewelry like this colorful beaded cuff from Sears to dress it up or add a sleeveless top and denim shirt to dress it down for a day of sightseeing. Depending on the weather you can knot the denim shirt or tie it around your waist for an extra casual look. I love the neutral colors of these wedges because they match everything meaning there is no need to pack a different pair of shoes for every outfit you take!

Haha it is a shirt I knotted! It’s a layered tank top from Sears and I just folded the bottom front part of it under and tied the back in a knot! I’ll be wearing it “unknotted” in an upcoming blog post so you’ll get to see what it looks like a little better. 🙂 I love it and it was super affordable!!

Maxi skirt and tank combination never fails for vacation! Who wants to spend time ironing on vaca? That’s less time spent at the pool with a drink in hand! Love the look! I had no idea you did an annual trip to Israel are you from there?
