Hey guys! I just got home from Austin and I am so ready to put on my pajamas! I spent another short weekend road tripping with my parents to visit my brother and try some new places. As some of you know, my brother lives in L.A. but works in Austin every summer so we always try to visit him as much as possible before he heads back to the west coast. And let’s be honest, you don’t have to pull my arm too hard to convince me to go to Austin. As much as I was looking forward to relaxing at home watching Game of Thrones with Ita and Leo all weekend, I know I’d regret not going on these little road trips. Sleep is overrated anyway, right? (Actually that’s a lie, I love sleep… sleeping is the best)
Anyway! While it was a quick trip, it was a great trip. We hit up a few new spots that I will be sharing on the blog later this week (if you follow me on Snapchat @thefashionhour you got a sneak peek!), but tonight I wanted to share this adorable new ruffle sleeve dress I got in the other day courtesy of Chicwish!
Too “foofoo”?
For the most part, I’m not one to wear frilly or “foofoo” pieces. I typically stick to simple, clean lines. This ruffled bell sleeve dress was one of those borderline “foofoo” pieces for me. I couldn’t quite tell if the sleeves were too much but the grey and white striped fabric was so up my alley I decided to give it a try. And I am so glad I did!
The bell sleeves have just the right amount of ruffled drama and the feminine off-the-shoulder neckline really adds another level of chic to the dress. The back has a cutout detail that shows a hint of skin but overall I think the cut is pretty modest. I finished the look with my black choker and studded lace-up sandals from Forever 21 that are under $30! In case they sell out, I found another identical pair by Steve Madden here.
I’m off to convince my husband to turn off the soccer for a minute and turn on Game of Thrones! Wish me luck and have a great week!
