5 Staple Pieces to Add to Your Closet

Hey guys, I hope you all had a great weekend! I’m really excited to share today’s post with you because it is full of classic staple pieces to add to your closet now! The older I get, the more I focus on investing in quality staples I can style multiple ways and try to impulse buy less (key word is “try” – still human ?). Everything I’m sharing in today’s post is not only a great staple for your winter wardrobe, but they can easily be carried into spring (and some are on major sale!). Scroll down to read more about these five staple pieces to add to your closet now from Nordstrom!

I love simple outfits like these because they are full of pieces you can easily mix and match with other items in your wardrobe! I always find great staples at Nordstrom and everything I’m wearing today (even my blue light glasses!) are from Nordstrom. Each piece I’m sharing today is under $100 and you can order online with free shipping! I order from them so much and it’s so convenient they have free shipping on everything AND free returns. Sometimes I’ll order an item in two sizes (like this coat) then just return the one that didn’t work either by mail or popping by the store. But let’s get to the list shall we?

Staple Pieces to Add to Your Closet

Tailored Classic Coat

This time of year a quality coat is a MUST and I am so happy I found this Topshop one that has recently been marked to 50% OFF! It comes in grey, camel and pink but I especially love the grey and camel because it matches so many outfits. Neutrals are such a big part of my wardrobe and I feel like a classic coat like this is something that looks good on everyone. Whether you’re in college or about to celebrate your 50 year reunion, this coat will work for you. It’s great quality for the low price tag so I would definitely grab it in your size while you can! I’m 5’5” and love where it hits. I would recommend sizing down though as it fits oversized. I’m wearing a 2. I’m linking my coat along with a few other similar options to shop below!

Basic Tees

A plain white tee is something I have always worn and continue to reach for on a regular basis when getting dressed year-round. It’s just such a classic, casual look that can be worn simply with jeans or paired with a fun skirt. I love this one I picked up at Nordstrom but if you want to grab a color option this roll sleeve tee is really cute too! I’m wearing an XS.

Faux Leather Pants

Now this one may be more unexpected than the others but I feel like this look just gets more and more popular over the last few years. If you want to ease into the faux leather pants look I would recommend starting with a pair of Spanx leggings or Commando leggings. I own both pairs and really like them both! I wear the Spanx ones more often but the Commando ones are a little thicker and although they’re leggings, they look more like pants and the faux leather look stands out more. The faux leather pants I’m wearing today however are more like jeans as they have front and back pockets with a zipper and button in the front. To me, these are the ones that are really trending right now and something you could pair with a blouse and heels for date night or a simple tee and boots like I’m wearing. They’re only $49 which I feel like is a steal for any pair of pants! I’m normally a size 2/4 and got the 5.

Animal Print Bootie

Another unexpected staple but I promise a pair of snakeskin booties matches more than you think! Animal prints like this, leopard, cheetah really are neutrals and can pair well with so many outfits. Whether it’s a boot or sandal, a hint of animal print in an outfit is a fun touch while still keeping it classy!

Blue Light Glasses

This last one isn’t necessarily a must-have for everyone BUT if you are looking at a screen most of the day like I am they really are! I’m trying to get in the habit of remembering to wear my blue light glasses more often and have really been loving the ones Quay makes. I’m linking a few cute options below if you’re in need of any!

So what do you think? Will you be giving any of these pieces a try? Keep an eye out for a new post showing how I styled the camel version of this coat in a more spring-forward look! Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Gorgeous! you look fabulous. The collection was pretty cool, catchy & bold. I love your fashion style. Including that, you can also add sexy corset, Shawl scarf for unique style and great support. Adding them in the closet is one of the best stylings ways for every season.
