A Day at the Magnolia Market

This past weekend we embarked on our first official family road trip (minus Leo – he stayed with my parents)! Saturday morning we headed south to Austin for a conference I was attending on Sunday. The weather was unusually warm that day and so pretty so I knew I wanted to make a pitstop in good old Waco to visit the Magnolia Market!

If you’re not a die-hard HGTV Fixer Upper fan, Magnolia is the name of Chip and Joanna Gaines’s business and they have an online store called Magnolia Market. The Magnolia Market Silos in Waco house so many of their home decor products and have a huge outdoor area perfect for family outings. There are picnic tables, a huge lawn with different yard games and plenty of room for kids to run around. The area is lined with a dozen food trucks ranging from barbecue and burgers (the brisket sandwich we got was delicious!) to crepes and even several healthy options. I especially fell in love with this bottled sparkling drink they were selling at their beverage stand. I had never had it before but oh my goodness it was delicious! I also spotted people drinking out of little watermelons (cutest thing ever) and countless mason jars filled with sweet tea from another drink stand.

The longest line had to be at the new bakery they opened up right on site. I didn’t go in (Ita definitely was not going to stand in line) but it looked so adorable! Lucky for me the bakery also had a little airstream trailer next to all of the food trucks selling cupcakes and all sorts of yumminess from the bakery! I got the strawberries and cream cupcake and I am not lying it is one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. I’m not even a cupcake person and I seriously loved it so much. Definitely plan on buying a few more the next time I go back!

We had so much fun carrying Mila around and having a little picnic on the lawn with her. You could tell she loved seeing all of the kids run around and was just trying to take in all of the excitement around her! I definitely recommend making a day trip if you live within a couple of hours away. It is such a fun place to go with a few girlfriends or family!

They have a big event coming up that I’m contemplating heading back for… it’s called Spring at the Silos and it features over 60 artisan vendors and food trucks from around the country who are set up on the street and around their property. It’s a free event and there are so many good vendors that will be there (see a full list HERE)! I think they’ll even offer parking at the stadium and have a free trolley take you back and forth! I think I see a work sick day in my future…
