Happy Friday! This week has flown by and I can’t believe I am heading to Chicago this evening for the weekend. Be sure to check out my Instagram and Snapchat (@thefashionhour) to follow my adventures this weekend and keep a look out for a Chicago style travel post in the future! If you have any recommendations of places to check out in Chicago, please leave me a comment and let me know! You may notice a trend with today’s look. I have yet again layered a top over a maxi dress to create an entirely new look. I found this beautifully embroidered, strapless maxi dress at Dillards for a ridiculously low price. The Gianni Bini dress retails at nearly $200 and I found it on clearance for under $20 (crazy!). The dress looks beautiful as is but I am not always crazy about wearing strapless so I layered this white sleeveless blouse over it and knotted it in the back (remember when I did the same thing here?). I added a subtle pop of color with this slate necklace and kept all of my accessories simple not to take away from the embroidery detail. The intricate work of the embroidery reminds me of classic Mexican style dresses. I traveled to Mexico often throughout my childhood and I still remember when my mom bought me a handmade embroidered Mexican dress. You know the really colorful ones with beautiful flowers threaded into them? Seeing pieces that resemble them always makes me nostalgic.
On another note, if you are a fan of monthly beauty subscriptions, you may want to check out Glossybox! They deliver 5 deluxe to full-size beauty products to your doorstep each month and the June edition was inspired by the colorful streets of Miami! Use code “TFH15” to receive 15% off your first month!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Great look. I love layering tops over maxi dresses and love how you knotted yours in the back! I’ll have to try that! Also loving the necklace.
