Thank you to Samsung for sponsoring this post!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I visited the Samsung Studio Pop-Up going on here in Dallas last week. This Pop-Up is located inside Stonebriar Mall in Frisco and features the new Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone in all of its glory! Ita and I both were so impressed with what this phone can do and had so much fun interacting with all of the staff at the different sections of the Studio. Here’s a look at what you can expect when you visit the Samsung Studio Pop-Up and see the Galaxy S8…
As you can see this is definitely an INTERACTIVE pop-up. They had stationary bikes set up where you plug in the Galaxy S8 to race (don’t worry, I didn’t get on the bike this pregnant) and a virtual reality game where you sat in a chair and basically wore the phone as goggles where your surroundings transformed into an incredible virtual reality experience. I couldn’t participate in the game (again, the whole pregnancy thing) but I did wear the equipment to see what it looked like and it was unreal! I can only imagine how fun it would be to play games that way!
When we went around the corner to the other side of the Samsung Studio, we were greeted with more staff eager to show us even more of the Galaxy S8’s impressive features. Not only was everyone extremely nice, I was so impressed with their knowledge and how much fun they were having with the Galaxy S8. A few of the highlights for me were:
Camera Quality
Camera quality is probably the most important thing to me when buying a phone. After all, part of my job is to take photos. It is so much more convenient being able to snap a quality #ootd with my phone instead of using a DSLR or meeting with a photographer. I was so impressed with the quality of this camera and could not believe some of the settings it comes equipped with. First, the rear camera is 12MP and the front-facing/selfie camera is 8MP, making it an incredibly advanced smartphone camera. The rear camera features a bright F1.7 lens that allows you to capture more light, even if you’re in a low light situation. I always struggle to capture decent photos in the evening so this will be a game-changer for me! Even more than that, it has a “Pro Mode” where you can adjust settings such as ISO, shutter speed, exposure, etc. – just like a DSLR camera! Very excited to play with this feature!
Water-Resistant
At one point during the demonstration, they actually submerged the Galaxy S8 in water. The Galaxy S8 is made to withstand up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes (P68 water and dust resistant). I don’t know about you, but I personally get a little nervous if my phone gets so much as a few raindrops on it. Now that I have the Galaxy S8, I feel like I could probably have a photo shoot in the rain with it and not worry about ruining my phone! As you’ll see in this photo, they had me take a selfie and color designs around it (another cool feature of the Galaxy S8). As soon as they placed the phone in the water, it enlarged the image up on an underwater screen! We thought it was pretty cool.
STORAGE + BATTERY LIFE
When you take as many photos as I do, storage is very important. I’m also one of those people who hates deleting old photos to make room. Thankfully, the Galaxy S8 allows for up to 256GB of storage, so it’s safe to say I’ll be good on the storage front. The phone also has a 10nm processor that runs on 20% less power meaning your battery life goes longer with each charge (crucial for all of those photos you’ll be snapping and skimming through on Instagram all day).
As you can see, I am clearly a fan of this phone. You can grab the Galaxy S8 or S8+ here and be sure to check out the Samsung Studio pop-up here in Dallas or your local area – click here to see all the locations!
