Kona Grill Northpark

When I think about where I want to go have a drink or go out to eat at night, going to the mall is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind. After experiencing Kona Grill Northpark’s happy hour, that thought is no longer accurate. If you’ve ever shopped at Northpark Mall in Dallas, you’ve probably walked past Kona Grill. Kona Grill offers modern American cuisine, sushi, and some AMAZING happy hour specials! I was amazed at the amount of food and drinks they offer during happy hour and they offer it 7 DAYS A WEEK! There are over 20 food items to choose from that are either half off or $6 along with reasonably priced cocktails, sangrias, beer and wine ranging from $3.75-$7.75. Although I was tempted to order a glass of their sake sangria that I noticed many other people drinking, we found out it was half price bottles of wine night so we opted for a bottle of red. Every Wednesday they offer half price bottles of wine. This may be part of the reason why there was a line out the door for their happy hour! Kona Grill’s happy hour is from 3pm-7pm and 9pm-11pm during the week. My husband and I arrived around 9:00 to find the place packed! The bar is a great size and there are at least 10 tables in the lounge plus a large outdoor patio so I could not believe it was all full. I highly recommend getting there a few minutes before happy hour starts so you can guarantee you’ll have a place to sit. Whether or not you have to wait a few minutes to be seated, it is definitely worth the wait. While dining at Kona Grill we tried:

Philly Roll (smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber) $3.50

Spicy Tuna $3.75

Bama Roll (crab mix, cream cheese, jalapeno, tuna, avocado, soy paper, spicy motoyaki sauce, smelt roe) $6.00- DEFINITELY ORDER!

Wave Roll (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, soy paper) $6.00- DEFINITELY ORDER! All of the sushi was delicious and fresh! Great selection for happy hour!

Ahi Wonton Crisps– SO DELICIOUS! The wasabi cream sauce they drizzle on top is amazing.

Avocado Egg Rolls (half off) $5.00- They were alright but I prefer Cheesecake Factory’s.

Margherita Flatbread (half off) $6.25- fresh ingredients with delicious balsamic glaze

Potstickers (half off) $5.00- these are ordered often there and they were good but I am not a big fan of potstickers so I would not order them again.

Food and wine aside, I was very impressed with the staff. The hostesses were welcoming and helpful while we waited for a seat and our server could not have been better. I will definitely be a repeat customer at Kona Grill and strongly encourage you to check them out soon!
