Mi Cocina Las Colinas -

I have no idea what took me so long to check out Mi Cocina’s happy hour. $5.00 Mambo Taxis and free chips and queso?? Sign me up! If you’re anything like me, you get full on chips and salsa or queso before your main course even comes out. To prevent this, I did not order a main course and enjoyed the unlimited plates of free queso and salsa our gracious server continuously brought out. Did I mention how great the service was? My husband and I were immediately greeted when we walked through the door by the hostess and taken to our high top table in the bar area. Our waiter greeted us with chips and salsa and a rundown of the happy hour menu. I ordered the Mambo Taxi and my husband ordered a Michelada. For those of you who do not know, a Michelada is a Mexican “Cerveza Preparada” made with beer, lime juice, and assorted sauces, spices, and peppers that is served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass. In short, deliciousness. Micheladas are not on the happy hour menu but since Mexican beers are, if you ask for a Michelada it is only $4.50 during happy hour. The Mambo Taxi is their frozen margarita and frozen sangria swirled together with a lime on top. This drink is heavenly. It is the perfect combination of sweet and sour and is extremely refreshing.

This restaurant has a very open floor plan with beautiful artwork and decor throughout. There is a large enclosed patio that is perfect for warm weather but can still be used year round as they have heaters placed between the tables. The bar is spacious and has a beautiful line of glasses across it each filled with a different type of fresh fruit. My impression of the welcoming atmosphere was confirmed as more and more people came in to meet friends for drinks or dine with family. Our waiter always had a genuine smile on his face when he would check on us throughout the evening. I will definitely be going back to Mi Cocina Las Colinas for their happy hour!
