Mila is Starting School!

I can’t believe I’m writing this but Mila starts school Thursday! I know a lot of you have kids that are heading back to school this week too so I thought I would share some back to school style along with a little Mila update! Everything you see in today’s post is from Walmart and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I found so many great pieces for Mila and picked up a few things for myself that I am OBSESSED WITH and think you’ll love too. Seriously so many cute items for a steal so let’s dive in…

MILA’S OUTFIT

I am all about dressing Mila in cute outfits that don’t cost an arm and a leg. If you have little ones you know they are bound to stain it and grow out of it in no time so I try to be smart about what I spend. Thankfully Walmart has tons of cute Back to School style options for everyone and I was able to pick her up several new pieces! These tanks come in a pack of 3 and only cost $8 and her plaid leggings were only $3.48! Similar to my style, I love having solid tanks and tees for her that I can mix and match with her different pants and skirts. How cute would this same tank be with one of THESE SKIRTS?!

Her little shoes are $21.99 and come in six colors but I think I’m going to grab her another similar pair that’s under $10 and an iridescent white. She’ll need to bring her lunch to school so I got her this owl lunchbox that has two compartments (similar one here). Her favorite stuffed animal is her owl so I knew she would love it! Just thinking about her walking into school with it is making me emotional. I also grabbed this nap mat that looks easy to clean!

MILA IS STARTING SCHOOL!

We are going to meet her teacher today and I honestly have all the emotions… I know this is a good thing and will be so good for her but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have any anxiety about it! She’ll be in school three half days a week and I know she is going to love it. Ita and I have been juggling taking care of her since she was born (no nanny, no daycare) and my mom has been watching her two days a week this year so it will be really good for us too. Mila is VERY social and tries to talk to and play with everyone so I really feel like she’s going to enjoy it so much. I’m a little worried about the schedule change since she normally takes a 2-3 hour nap every day and at school they have a 45 minute “rest time” but I know she’ll adjust and am sure everything will end up being fine.

If you have kids, how did you handle that first day of school or first day of daycare? Any tips for a first time mom?!

I’m going to share a more detailed Mila update next week because I feel like SO MUCH has gone on with her and I don’t want to be too terribly long winded in this post. She has been talking like crazy and I feel like she understands everything I say which has been so surreal. I feel like she’s grown up so much recently and continues to show more of her personality – it’s definitely a fun age right now! Let me know if there is anything specific you’d like me to talk about/address in her next update post!

MY OUTFIT

Before I wrap up I HAVE to talk to you about this sweater dress I’m wearing. Not only is Mila decked out in Walmart, I am too! I feel like I hit the jackpot with this ribbed duster cardigan because it’s only $16 and comes in four colors!! I’m wearing it as a dress but this is definitely something you could wear unbuttoned with jeans and a top, wear to work, dress up etc. The quality is REALLY good and the price is obviously hard to beat. I’m wearing a medium here but also got it in beige in a small. It’s true to size but the small fits just a tad more form fitting. I highly recommend grabbing this for fall because it’s a piece you’ll wear over and over again!

I styled it with these white and leopard sneakers (also only $16!!) but you could definitely pair it with boots or flats too. Size down a half size in the sneakers as they do run big. I also grabbed these black golden goose dupes for $16 and I’m in love! Size down a half size in those too!

I think it’s pretty obvious I’m happy with everything I found at Walmart! They offer FREE 2-DAY shipping on most orders over $35 which is pretty incredible and you can also order online and pickup in store. I did this for a pair of shoes and you just walk up to the kiosk, scan the barcode of your receipt from your phone and the machine presents your package within seconds! If you’ve never seen it it’s pretty cool and futuristic (does that make me sound old??). I’m linking a few other items I found (like the two poufs under $20 I shared on stories)!

You can shop more Back to School style from Walmart HERE. I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you are able to grab a few of these good deals!

Thanks for reading!
