My Secret to Repair Damaged Hair + What I ask for at the Hair Salon

Over the last few years I have been getting my hair highlighted (1-2 times/year) and using a wand to style it (2-3 times/week). As much as I try to be good to my hair and resist using heat on it daily, damage happens. I’m not the best about doing hair masks or any sort of special treatments to repair damaged hair because #momlife and #worklife keep me so busy it’s a miracle I actually wash my hair once a week…

If ONLY there was a product that was quick and effortless and yielded salon quality results… yeah, I didn’t think it existed either, but it does and it’s from Pantene!

Pantene pro-v intense rescue shots

Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots is Pantene’s first at-home rescue treatment and it’s their most potent repair product yet! This imported from Brazil product JUST hit shelves this month, so I had to keep it secret from you until now! I’ve been using it since December and can honestly say I noticed a difference after the first use. My hair felt softer immediately and when styled it had noticeably less frizz. Normally when I use any sort of special conditioner or treatment my hair can feel weighed down and get greasy faster but that did not happen at all with this one! I was so pleasantly surprised and have made the Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots part of my weekly routine.

What is it?

The single-dose tube contains a deeply absorbing blend of Pro-Vitamin B5, strengthening lipids and natural glycerin that targets the damaged areas. This gives your hair the flexibility and resilience it needs to endure styling and environmental stresses.

This is a must-have product for anyone that has color-treated or heat-styled hair. Dry and brittle hair is so common from endless heat and color after color. Thankfully this product absorbs into your hair to instantly rescue that damage and leave your hair feeling soft and healthy. The best part is that it works for ALL hair types!

HOW TO USE IT:

Pantene made it very easy to have success with this product! The tube is single-dose meaning you use the entire tube on your hair then throw it away.

Shampoo your hair (y’all know I love the Pantene Charcoal Collection Shampoo but I’ve been using the Repair & Protect Shampoo lately and love it!).

After shampooing, squeeze the Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots product into your hand and work it into your hair to the point it is fully saturated, root to tip. I recommend starting at the lower half of your hair and working your way up. That way you ensure the product is really getting to the damaged areas (for me that means my ends!).

The product was formulated to prevent overdosing so don’t hold back and use the entire tube!

Leave it in for 30 seconds then rinse for 30 seconds. *Pantene recommends not over rinsing!

Get out of the shower, run your fingers through your hair and be amazed at how soft it feels!

Use Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots weekly in place of your conditioner.

Pretty simple, right? I am so excited to continue using this product weekly to repair damaged hair and give myself more great hair days! You can pick yours up at Target or click here to order it.

What I Ask for at the Hair Salon

Lastly, I get asked quite a bit what I ask for at the hair salon so I figured this would be a good time to share it! I get my hair cut about every 12 weeks (trying to make it more like every 8-10 weeks) and only color it about once a year. I’ve been going to the same hairstylist for a few years now, (John Boerger at Blow Salon) so he usually knows what I want. I always show him a picture on my phone or from Pinterest but we pretty much do the same thing every time.

I like to keep my hair long and usually cut 2 inches off every time I go (if I went more often he would most likely just trim it). I ask for long layers and *barely* do face framing layers. Basically, I don’t want pieces of my hair to be too short around my face so he will do a very subtle cut around the face.

As for coloring he paints highlights (balayage) and I always ask for them to be a little brighter around the face and come up a little higher on my hair around the face. He does a creamy blonde (NOT brassy) and equates the color to “the inside of a banana”… ha! I love the balayage look because it’s so natural and continues to look good as your hair grows!

I hope that helps and can’t wait to hear what you think of the Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots!
