The husband and I did a spontaneous staycation at The Adolphus Hotel last week. The Adolphus Hotel is located in downtown Dallas and has been open over 100 years (since 1912!). My Grandma even remembers my Granddad working on it back in the day which is pretty cool. The hotel has gone through some major renovations and new additions (like the beautiful and delicious City Hall Bistro restaurant). Here is a breakdown of our stay and what you can expect when staying at the hotel! Also, be sure to pay a visit to the spa ASAP since they’re running some great specials right now! Details below…
Pool
We checked in a little later than we liked since we both had to work Friday. We headed straight to the pool on the 7th floor which has gorgeous views of downtown. The pool area has plenty of chairs and cabana areas along with a full bar and restaurant with seating. There’s even a fire pit if you want to hang out in the evening with a glass of wine.
We were starving (okay mainly just I was starving…) so we ordered some guacamole and a chicken Caesar salad to eat by the pool. I was so pleasantly surprised with how good it was! The guacamole had pomegranate seeds on top which gave an unexpected and delicious flavor and I’ll definitely be experimenting with my guacamole at home now. The salad was fresh with roasted peppers and fresh grilled chicken. I would definitely order it again.
It doesn’t quite feel like vacation unless you have a fancy cocktail in hand. The bartender was so sweet and made me a fresh virgin Pina colada that was delicious. It was the perfect little addition to our poolside picnic.
Spa
The Adolphus Hotel treated me to a pedicure and facial while I was there and both were amazing! D Magazine’s Spa Days program is currently going on until August 14th where you can get spa packages for $175. It is a really good deal and is much less expensive than the normal cost per service!
The lady that did my pedicure had her work cut out. Between walking around barefoot all the time and rarely getting pedicures, my feet needed some help. She did such a great job and was so sweet. I think we talked about babies and pregnancy the entire time. That seems to be the only thing I talk about with people anymore who have kids…
Since I’m pregnant there are only certain things I can do during a facial. I stayed away from any peels and we focused on hydration. The pigmentation in my face is all over the place but there’s nothing a spa treatment can do since that is from my pregnancy. My skin felt and looked so much better after the facial. I would recommend adding the eye and lip treatment to your facial. I get really bad dark circles under my eyes and there was a noticeable difference after my facial which doesn’t always happen! Spa services can be scheduled here.
The jumpsuit I wore to the spa comes in 3 colors and can be found HERE.
Brunch
If you follow me on Instagram and look at my Instagram Stories, you may remember seeing this brunch at City Hall Bistro. I went to a media preview of it before they opened where I got to try almost everything on the menu (it was amazing) and I posted about it again last weekend. The interior design of this restaurant really is #goals and the food is fantastic. The white tile, cognac leather booths, mirrors everywhere… it’s beautiful.
We enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice and a couple of appetizers to start. The Papas Bravas are a must-order. Every time I eat them it makes me want to book a trip back to Spain immediately. I think we ate papas bravas and paella the entire time we were in Spain (and churros of course…). Also a must-order is the “Atayef” Savory Lebanese Pancakes with duck confit. Very different but very delicious. Ita had the Steak & Eggs which came out perfectly cooked with a hazelnut pesto on top. I ordered the Ratatouille Benedict which is made with crispy fried eggplant as the base and had an incredible sauce choron on top (like a spicy bernaise!). The dish comes with poached eggs but I asked for scrambled since I’m pregnant and I think it is pretty delicious!
Overall it was a wonderful getaway. Like with any staycation, I wish it could have lasted longer but it was nice to get away for a night. You can visit The Adolphus Hotel website here!
