Happy Friday! I am thrilled to be teaming up with Sears again to talk about a denim trend I have been loving this season. Denim comes in all shapes and sizes and it seems like we have been seeing more of it in fashion the last few years other than your typical pair of jeans. Whether it’s a long sleeve button-down shirt, a shirt dress, a short sleeve top, Canadian Tuxedo, etc., I’ve worn just about every variation of denim out there. But my recent obsession has been the jean skirt. And not your old, low-rise mini that you probably wore in high school (it’s okay. I’m guilty too.), I’m talking about the edgy, buttoned, high-waisted denim skirt like this black Bongo one I am wearing from Sears. The high-waisted cut is flattering for every shape and allows you to play with how you style it. I went for this crisp white Bongo blouse with little blue birds on it (only $14.99!) and a pair of strappy heels to balance the edgier feel of the skirt’s frayed hem and zipper detail.
It is always going to be more flattering to tuck tops into your skirt rather than wear them out, so no matter what top you pair your skirt with, tuck it in. I promise- your waistline will thank me!
What I love most about the denim skirt trend is that you can really pair it with anything. I could tuck in a muscle tee and throw on a pair of sandals as well as easily transition this skirt to fall by pairing it with a crewneck sweater and ankle booties. Feel like really embracing denim? Pair a denim skirt with this chambray shirt I wore in a previous post and tie it in a knot at your waist for a chic denim on denim look!
How do you feel about denim? Is there a denim trend that you are currently loving? I’d love to know about it! Also be sure to check out how Cryskay styled her favorite denim trend!
