If you’ve walked into a Target store lately, or even shopped online for that matter, you may have noticed it got a bit of a makeover. A PLAID makeover. From sweaters and scarves to coffee cups and even tissue boxes, it is official: Target has gone mad for plaid. And I’m not mad at it.
Plaid has been a recurring staple in my fall wardrobe for years and this season is no different. One of the things I love most about plaid is its versatility. I can incorporate plaid into my outfit in subtle, classic ways or make a statement by doing something more daring and bold. Basically, there’s a whole world of plaid potential out there and the wonderful thing about plaid is like with many styles, you can make it your own!
I am thrilled to be teaming up with Target again to bring you TWO plaid-inspired looks! One on the more conservative side if you like to play by the rules and one more bold for you fashion rule-breakers out there. Let’s break down each Target Plaid look…
Look #1: Play by the Rules
I am in love with this oatmeal plaid Cowl Neck Fringe Sweater from the new Adam Lippes for Target collection. Its oversized silhouette and long fringe trim gives an effortless autumn vibe and the generously sized armholes provide plenty of room to layer up for those colder months ahead. I kept a monochromatic look using only light neutrals that complement the oatmeal tan and fresh ivory colors of the sweater by adding my cream faux leather skirt and tan suede boots. The simplicity of this look allows you to incorporate plaid in a subtle and comfortable way.

Look #2: Break the Rules
In this look I was a little bit more adventurous by incorporating two different plaids in one outfit (three if you count Leo’s bed!). I think a key to helping pull off a “plaid on plaid” look is by including different types of plaid. The plaid on this Sleeveless Duster is a little smaller while the plaid on the Cozy Blanket Scarf is much more bold. The great thing about both of these pieces is that they can be styled countless ways. The plaid duster can be worn as a layering piece, unbuttoned while the scarf can be thrown on and tied a multitude of ways! I think it is important to have fun in fashion and take chances. Although it might not always be easy, I love stepping out of my comfort zone to create new looks and break the rules a bit! As much as I loved putting together my playfully plaidtastic Target Plaid look, I think we can probably both agree that my dog Leo steals the show with his Adam Lippes for Target Travel Dog Bed. Am I right?!

So have you had enough plaid yet? Me neither. This is just scratching the surface on plaid pieces available at Target. The new Adam Lippes for Target collection is so good and includes clothing for men and women along with other plaid pieces for your home and pets! If you’re like me, Target is already part of your weekly shopping routine so be sure to keep an eye out for all of their playful plaid products the next time you’re there!

BRB going to buy look #2 right now. SO CUTE! That dress is right up my alley. Look #1 is also gorgeous. I’m weirdly loving that you described the palette as “oatmeal.” Spot on, and now I’m hungry for cereal. You look gorgeous! Need to stop by Target over the weekend!

Every time I go to target I see that tan turtleneck and I always debate on whether or not to try it on! Now I definitely have to because it looks amazing on you!! I love how you paired it with a white skirt instead of leggings. So cute!!
