If you live here in Dallas, you are probably familiar with The W Hotel in Victory Park. Located right next to the American Airlines Center, this hot hotel is not only offering luxuriously chic rooms and an infinity pool with panoramic views of our gorgeous city, they also offer some pretty great specials at their restaurant and bar, Cook Hall and The Living Room.
Cook Hall
Cook Hall is a modern-American gastropub with a “5@5” special offering five hand-crafted cocktails and five snacks, all for $5 each starting at, you guessed it, 5pm. The cocktail options are: House Cabernet and Chardonnay, Draft Beer, Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita, Watermelon Lemon Fizz, Mandarin Raspberry Tea. I wasn’t crazy about the tea to the point that I hardly drank any of it and for some reason they did not have all of the ingredients to make the Watermelon cocktail. The margarita was strong with a kick.
The “snack” options are: tempura fried pickles, truffle french fries, jalapeno cheddar fritters with sriacha dip, cornbread with vanilla-honey butter, and three cheese toast with prosciutto, pear, and pistachios. All options sound very promising but I’d skip the cornbread and toast. It may have been the day I was there but the cornbread was very dry. A must-order is the fritters. They tasted as good as they sound and how can you not order fried cheese with sriacha dip?!
The Living Room
The Living Room Bar is not your typical hotel lobby… located right around the corner of the hotel entrance you are drawn to the sky-high crystal chandeliers and plush, tufted couches. They of course add a touch of Texas flair with their cowhide and leather poufs spread throughout the area for extra seating. The mood lighting and DJ set the tone of the room and the floor to ceiling windows allow views of the American Airlines Center. The large outdoor patio facing the AAC is perfect for people watching and getting some fresh air. This is a spot where not only hotel guests and local residents come for a drink, but you will also find that many of the artists, bands, athletes, etc. that come through the AAC tend to make their way across the street to The Living Room Bar for a cocktail after their game or show. I’m not allowed to name names but let’s just say there have been some BIG stars in that room!
The Living Room Bar has specials from 7pm-11pm every Tuesday offering $5 treats like pimento cheese croquettes, deviled eggs with serrano ham, patatas bravas and more. This spicy, lime zested popcorn was to die for! As for drinks you can get bottles of wine for only $20-$30 and an assortment of DELISH cocktails. The goal is to relax, recharge, and revel in the Living Room to the sweet sounds of DJ Frances Jaye + JT Donaldson.
Thank you to The W for having me! I’m looking forward to the next time!
