What to Wear to a Wedding When You’re Pregnant

Picking out something to wear to a wedding can be difficult. Is it formal? Semi-formal? Indoors or outdoors? You don’t want to be overdressed but you certainly do not want to be UNDERdressed… now try figuring all of that out pregnant while still trying to find something remotely stylish for your changing body. YIKES. I’m here to tell you that determining what to wear to a wedding when you’re pregnant is not as horrible as it sounds… promise.

There are so many fashionable maternity options nowadays to suit different body types. One of my favorite places to shop for maternity attire has been ASOS. Their selection for maternity dresses is unbelievable and I honestly wish I had the opportunity to wear more of their clothes throughout this pregnancy! Any time I needed a dress for a special occasion over the last few months, I ordered it from ASOS. The dresses are not only stylish but really affordable.

Since it is so hard to determine what will work for your body during this time (I don’t know about you but things that fit one week did not fit the next!), I would order multiple dresses at once. ASOS has 2-day international shipping and free returns so I never stressed when ordering a bunch all at once. If you remember the dress I wore to my baby shower, I originally had that dress in one size but by the time my baby shower rolled around I ordered it in the next size up. I highly recommend picking your dress out as close to the wedding you’re attending as possible OR ordering a size up.

The most important thing you can do when deciding what to wear to a wedding when you’re pregnant is wear something you feel comfortable in! This is something I believe in even when not pregnant but I think it is especially important when you are. You may already be a little self-conscious about your changing body and the last thing you want to do is be fidgeting with your dress all night. A pregnant body is a beautiful thing so you should be wearing a dress that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable in your skin! I absolutely loved this light blue embellished dress I’m wearing below. I almost wore it to my baby shower and never had the chance to wear it out. Even at 39 weeks when I snapped this photo it made me feel beautiful and did not make me feel self-conscious about my body – that is the kind of dress you want to wear!

I personally think it is most flattering when you accentuate your bump which is why I loved wearing this dress so much. The scuba material is thick so you don’t have to worry about it showing any bulges. No matter which dress you wear, definitely invest in your undergarments.
