Our Gender Reveal: it’s a girl!

I am so excited to finally share the details on our gender reveal and let you know we are having another little GIRL! If you follow me on Instagram you’ve known this for a while now so I apologize for taking so long to share the news here. We honestly did not care whether it was a boy or girl and I am so excited just thinking about Mila having a sister! I have 3 older brothers (2 oldest are half brothers) and my brother is 6 years older than me. I can only imagine how special of bond sisters have so close in age (they’ll be about 3 years apart) and I can’t wait to see what life is like with the two of them. 🙂 But let’s talk about our gender reveal shall we?

OUR GENDER REVEAL

When I was pregnant with Mila we didn’t do a gender reveal. Ita and I found out during the ultrasound together which was really special and then we told our parents and other family members. We had a little get together where my mom made a cake and the inside had pink M&M’s so that’s how some of my family found out.

This time around I knew I wanted to have a gender reveal. With the strict protocol at our doctor’s office because of COVID-19, I knew Ita wouldn’t be able to find out with me this time during the ultrasound anyway so I had them put the results in an envelope so we could find out together.

We were quarantining at this time (never thought I’d use that word as a verb so much in my life by the way) so I planned to give the results to our neighbor and ordered a balloon off Amazon for us to pop in our living room. As much as we would have loved to have a get together with cute blue and pink treats, we knew it was not an option to host any sort of gathering given the circumstances.

A few days before we planned to do the gender reveal a friend of mine who owns an event planning company, Bash Co., reached out and offered to do the gender reveal for us! She coordinated with Lushra, who creates the most incredible balloon garlands, to set up a gender reveal in the Lushra studio for just us! So we basically went from trying to figure out how to set up snapping photo and video in our living room by ourselves to being surprised with the most gorgeous set up and someone to take the photos (social distanced, of course). It was amazing!

While I think it is so cute when people shoot off smoke bombs or pop a balloon full of pink or blue confetti, for our gender reveal we were essentially blindfolded and turned around to the most epic light and balloon display announcing we’re having a girl! It was seriously the most gorgeous setup and I am so grateful they did that for us. The best part was that I invited family and friends on a zoom call and had my laptop there so they could be a part of the surprise with us! We asked everyone beforehand what they thought we were having and just about everyone said, “boy” lol (to be honest for a while there I thought it was a boy too). While it of course would have been nice to have everyone there in person, it was a lot of fun celebrating with everyone virtually and connecting the family together in that way.

Whether you do it in your living room with a balloon or go all out, I definitely recommend doing a gender reveal! Our gender reveal is definitely a special memory for me and got us that much more excited for our sweet girl due in September.
